I was watching The Incredibles with my kids the other day and one of the first scenes of the movie, Mr. Incredible says the above quote. I think I’ve watched this movie a million times by now, but that quote sat with me a little different this time. I just finished cleaning up the house moments before the movie started and we already had popcorn all over the floor. To say I was frustrated, was an understatement. I just felt like, ‘gosh, CAN we keep it clean for ten minutes?! Is it REALLY that hard?’
And then I took a look around and realized the popcorn was all over because the middle and oldest knocked some off while they were snuggling into a tangled mess of limbs on the floor and the youngest spilled more because she just wanted to be part of the love and be as close to them as humanly possible. These kids are messy and know just what buttons to push, but you are the hero in their lives every day and no matter how many times you save the world, it always manages to get back in jeopardy again.
