Top Three Reasons to Have a Milestone Photo Shoot

I thought I’d change it up a tad and share my top three reasons to have a milestone photo shoot with your little one while sharing this milestone session #tbt from Fall 2020.

1. When your little one is just beginning to sit and on the verge of crawling, that’s the perfect milestone to schedule a photo shoot. Here’s why - eye contact and curiosity of their surroundings. We’re able to capture that personality starting to come out and get some great expressions.

2. Add grandparents! If you scroll to the bottom of the featured session, you’ll see a few extended family portraits from the session, as well. Grandparents are welcome to join at the beginning of the session and generation portraits are so special.

3. Lastly, this is typically the time that moms start feeling better after having the baby! You’re figuring it out, getting more sleep, your body is starting to feel familiar again, and you can wrap your head more around the outside world. It’s a great way to celebrate!

Spring time cannot come soon enough. I know everyone is very much ready for the cold and storm threats to pass so we can move into the beautiful Spring time we all know and love. Bluebonnets, where you at?!

Families with young kiddos, I almost always recommend a field session to allow your little ones to have the space and freedom to play and adjust for the smoothest session possible. We can run around the field together as I build their trust, take plenty of breaks throughout the session for them to get all of the wiggles out as they need, and explore the great outdoors together. McKinney Family Photographer | Outdoor Family Session

Families with little ones tend to do best in the Spring or Fall when the weather is cooperative and we can have a lovely afternoon outdoors together.

Little ones need time to adjust to the environment and what’s expected of them, but I do my best to make them comfortable with me from the moment we meet! As a mom of 3 myself, I have a ton of tricks up my sleeves.

This sweet family session also includes a few images with Grandma, which I always encourage and adore. Family + generation photos are so, so important to me! Photos of grandparents with their grandchildren are always a wonderful idea.

Rachel is a skilled photographer specializing in maternity, newborns, babies, children and families both in her Plano studio and throughout the Dallas Fort Worth area, both outdoors and in her clients homes.
