Fall is always a bit of a blur, so I’m looking forward to the holiday break for some much needed rest and relaxation. Well… who am I kidding? What’s R&R when you have three kids, right? But a girl can dream!

Top Three Reasons to Have a Milestone Photo Shoot

I thought I’d change it up a tad and share my top three reasons to have a milestone photo shoot with your little one while sharing this milestone session #tbt from Fall 2020.

1. When your little one is just beginning to sit and on the verge of crawling, that’s the perfect milestone to schedule a photo shoot. Here’s why - eye contact and curiosity of their surroundings. We’re able to capture that personality starting to come out and get some great expressions.

2. Add grandparents! If you scroll to the bottom of the featured session, you’ll see a few extended family portraits from the session, as well. Grandparents are welcome to join at the beginning of the session and generation portraits are so special.

3. Lastly, this is typically the time that moms start feeling better after having the baby! You’re figuring it out, getting more sleep, your body is starting to feel familiar again, and you can wrap your head more around the outside world. It’s a great way to celebrate!

Family outdoor photos in the Fall are the most requested session for every photographer. Here in Texas, especially in Plano, family outdoor photos can be tricky with weather to factor in, so I have to very carefully balance catering to my clients, not overbooking myself to allow for weather makeup dates, and have a flexible enough, but stable flow of clients. Not that this is any of your concern, as a client, but all of that to say, scheduling Fall family outdoor photos early is the wisest move one can make to ensure availability with the photographer of your choosing.

Now what does that look like? For me, I like to book my clients at least 2 months in advance so that they have the time to go through the full experience with me and it isn’t rushed. Other photographers keep different calendars and preferences, so I would encourage you to research early and keep tabs on their social media and/or subscribe to their newsletter. Most photographers I know, including myself, will announce dates and availability to past clients and newsletter subscribers first before opening it up to the public.

Family Photography Studio Near Me

No one really explained just how much the world shifts when you bring another baby into the family. When we have our first, ALL of the time is devoted to them and then to suddenly have to figure out how to split your time and attention is a huge adjustment and I know a lot of mama’s struggle with the ‘balancing act’ of multiple children. These little ones depend on everything from us, and I know how overwhelming that can be.

That’s why it’s my number one goal to provide a warm, welcoming, calming studio space for my clients, so everyone feels at ease during the session. Photography sessions are not most people’s favorite, I totally get it, but scouts honor, my studio is a safe haven. Easy going music, relaxing environment, and no clutter is a sure way to help bring some peace to an otherwise stressful transition period of life!
