I have a confession - newborn sessions with their four-legged ‘big siblings’ are some of my absolute favorites. Pups add such a sweet pop to a session buuuuut I have to have some ground rules for including dogs, for everyone’s sanity ;)
Here’s a few tips and rules I have in place for including your dog.
1) Bring someone along with you to keep Pupper on a leash when they aren’t needed. Trust me, it makes a huge difference to not have Mom or Dad having to wrangle a dog and newborn and take photos.
2) If Pupper is a runner, just don’t.
3) Outdoors isn’t as big of a deal, but shedding in the studio isn’t ideal! If your Pupper is a big shedder, maybe a lifestyle or outdoor session would be a better solution for us.
4) If bringing Pup is going to add to your stress levels, leave them at home. I know it’s cute to include them and the photos are so sweet, but being a parent with a newborn (especially a first time parent) is stressful enough. The last thing I want for you is to be at a level 10 before the session has begun.
